The Knights of the Southern Cross (Cathedral Branch)
Catholic men united in faith, fraternity and service.
A place for men seeking more
Many men today are busy, capable and outwardly successful, yet still looking for deeper connection, purpose and formation. The Cathedral Branch of the Knights of the Southern Cross brings Catholic men together to grow in faith, support one another, and serve the Church and wider community in practical, visible ways.
At St Mary’s Cathedral, we offer men a place of fraternity, honest conversation and shared service, helping one another live with conviction in family, parish, work and public life.
Why this matters?
In a busy world, many men carry responsibility quietly. They work, provide, lead and serve, but often do so without a strong fraternity around them.
The Cathedral Branch exists because men need more than activity. We need formation, friendship, faith, and meaningful work worth giving ourselves to.
The Knights offer a place where Catholic men can stand alongside one another, deepen their faith, and turn conviction into practical service.
Our Mission
Cathedral Community
At St Mary’s Cathedral, our Knights are closely connected to the life of the parish and its people. Through practical service, such as assisting with the Parish BBQ, handing out Lifelink envelopes, and supporting Shopfront in feeding those who are disadvantaged, we seek to make a meaningful contribution to the Cathedral community. In these ways, we serve the Church in practical and visible ways while strengthening our bonds as Catholic men.
Leadership
As Knights, we seek men of faith, character and conviction who are willing to commit themselves to Catholic fraternity, service and leadership.
Through seminars, guest speakers and initiatives such as the Catholic Gentlemen’s Club, we create spaces for men to think seriously, speak honestly and grow together in a distinctly Catholic setting. These gatherings help men develop the confidence, judgement and courage needed to lead in their families, workplaces, parish and wider community.
Community Outreach
The Knights of the Southern Cross (WA) have a long tradition of service beyond the Church walls and into the wider community. This includes supporting young people through scholarships for the Knights Leadership Academy, working alongside Vinnies in assisting migrants and refugees as they settle into life in Western Australia, and volunteering with Southern Cross Care in supporting older members of our community. These are just some of the ways we seek to live our faith outwardly, and we remain open to other opportunities to serve with compassion, dignity and purpose.
Faith Formation
Guided by the teachings of the Church, we seek to grow as men of prayer, conviction and service through reflection, fellowship and shared spiritual formation. In a busy world, the Cathedral branch offers men a place to deepen their faith, strengthen their Catholic identity, and be supported in living out their vocation in family, parish and public life.
